A lot can happen in 3 days.
In the scheme of things 3 days is a very small amount of time compared to say a lifetime.
If God was going to show His face to you in 3 days, what would you do to prepare? Would you change anything? Would you be ready for God to show His power to you in 3 days?
Paster John Spurling, of Gateway, was talking at church today about when Moses went up to Sinai and talked to God. Rather, Moses did not really do too much talking; actually, God did a lot of talking. He essentially said, “I brought you and my people out of slavery. Now, do y’all trust me? Will you do something?” So Moses goes back down the mountain asks the people and they say, “Chea! You name it!” So Moses hikes back up the mountain and tells God. God’s response is basically, “Get ready because here I come!” This, of course, is the Bible according to Caroline. Exodus 19:10-11 really says, “And the LORD said to Moses, ‘Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow. Have them wash their clothes and be ready by the third day, because on that day the LORD will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.'” As Moses heads back down the mountain I mentally picture him kinda doing a little dance and singing, “We ready, we ready, we ready, for God!”
I added my own musings, but come on, these were real people. Moses tells the people. 3 days. Wash your clothes. BE READY!
I think it is so interesting that the Bible has so many “3’s” in it. 3 days. Wash your clothes. Before you go on a trip, don’t you try to have clean clothes? Before you go speak somewhere for work or school, before you do a presentation, before you move, before you go anywhere….you want to have clean clothes. You can pick up and GO!
Could you be ready in 3 days to pick up and GO? Would you be ready to see God’s face in 3 days? I spent 4 years in college preparing for ministry. 3 days. I did 3 summer long internships preparing for ministry. 3 days. Jillian Michaels says she can get you to shred 20 pounds in 30 days. What about 3 days? What could she do with me in 3 days besides make me just plain sore? I know girls that take months upon months planning their weddings. 3 days.
Are you like Moses? Are you ready?
You already have God with you. You should be ready. Ready to go accomplish His will on earth? Be a living sacrifice? Point upward?
What about when you are just waiting? Waiting. Sometimes, you have to sit and wait. You know God said He was going to show up. Not tomorrow. Not today. In 3 days. Waiting patiently. In order to keep your mind off of what God’s powerful work that He is going to do in 3 days do you perfect things? Iron those already washed clothes? Reorganize your closet? Brush your hair? Or maybe even go next door and help your neighbor wash their clothes?
Can you wake up in the mornings singing, “We ready, we ready, we ready, for God!”
I really do want to wake up in the mornings singing that! What is God going to do today?! Are you ready? Are your clothes washed? Is your heart clean? 3 days.
